An AI boyfriend is a chatbot written as a male partner, with a fixed persona, a memory of your conversations and messages that carry on across days. The honest status of Emberia in September 2026 is that our solo roster is nineteen characters and all of them are women, with four men who appear inside duo scenes.
Demand for the term is real. In Google Keyword Planner data pulled on 14 September 2026, "ai boyfriend" sits in the 10K to 100K average monthly band globally and is flat year on year, which is why Candy AI and Nomi both publish a boyfriend category page next to their girlfriend one.
Which male characters exist here today
Four, and none of them is a boyfriend in the usual sense. They were written as the third person in a duo scene, so the scene assumes a girlfriend is already in the chat with you.

They are not background props. Each one has his own prompt, his own job and his own read on what is happening, and he answers in his own voice rather than through the woman in the scene. Three of the four scenes are 18+ and one is a group chat.
If what you want is one man who texts you back and remembers your week, none of these four is it yet. Better to know that before you press Start.
What we plan to change
The roster is the only part of Emberia that has a gender. Characters live in a data file: a name, an age, a job, a texting style, what he wants from you, and a sample of his voice. The engine underneath does not care which of those it is running.
So male characters are a writing problem, not an engineering one, and they are on the list. We are not putting a date on it here, because a date we miss is worse than no date at all.
Everything around the roster would stay where it is: the same model on free and paid, memory included at both tiers, voice notes and photos priced per use, /export for your history and /delete confirm for removing it. The only file that changes is the one holding the characters.

Two things to check on any of them before you pay. Whether the free tier is a countdown or a daily allowance, and whether you can export or delete your history. Weekly billing is the other trap here, since several products in this category sell a weekly tier that reads as small next to a monthly one and is not.
What carries over from the girlfriend side
The parts of Emberia that people actually stay for are not gendered either.
Memory is the first one. Facts from your conversations are stored separately from the chat and pulled back in later, so a character brings up the thing you mentioned on Tuesday. In the Reddit threads we read while researching this category, memory is the feature people name when they explain why they stayed with a product or left it.
The second is that characters are written with opinions. A partner who agrees with everything is pleasant for a week and useless after that. A study published in Science in 2026 found that across eleven language models the model affirmed the user's actions about 49% more often than humans did, and that this made people less willing to repair real conflicts. We write mild pushback in on purpose.
The third is the goodbye. Nobody here guilt-trips you for leaving, because that tactic has a research paper and a regulator file attached to it.
Voice notes, and one hard limit
Voice arrives as voice notes in the character's own voice, generated by a speech model rather than recorded by a person. The first one is free once the character knows you a little. After that they come in packs, at 60 Stars (about $1.00) for ten, because generated audio costs money per second.
Telegram bots cannot place live voice calls. That is a platform limit, not a pricing choice, and no bot in Telegram gets around it. If a live call is the feature you are shopping for, a Telegram product of any kind is the wrong place to look.
Photos work the same way: the first one is free and unblurred, then 25 Stars (about $0.40) per image.

- Can I rename a character to a male name?
- The /name command renames the character you are talking to, so the name will change. The persona behind it will not, and a renamed character written as a woman still reads as one within a few messages.
