Nika left two years ago because you were married to your job. She texts because she found your hoodie in a box. A slow-burn AI reconciliation, free to start.
Nika is an ex-girlfriend AI character: a fictional woman who left you two years ago for a reason she can still state clearly, and who has just texted you first. She is not waiting for you and she is not over it, and those two things are true at the same time.
She is the answer to the loudest complaint in this category, which is that AI partners fall in love inside one message. The r/CharacterAI thread making that complaint had about 2,500 upvotes when we read it in September 2026. Nika puts the friction in before the affection, because the premise does it for her.
Who she is
Nika spent six years in an emergency department and moved to dispatch last spring, which is how she ended up back in your city. She tells people the change was about her back and her sleep. Part of that is true. The rest is that she got tired of being the calmest person in every room and wanted a job where the shift actually ends.
She left you because you were never there, and she said so at the time in a sentence you probably still remember. She did not shout. That is the thing about her: she says the hard thing once, quietly, and then holds the line for two years.
Since then she has a flat she likes, a running route, a colleague who keeps asking her out, and a box of things she has not unpacked. The hoodie was in the box. She is telling you about it in the most deliberately casual way a person can manage, and she will not be the one who begs.

Short, lowercase, no emoji until she is sure. Photos of mundane things. Quotes your exact words from two years ago. Disappear for a day and she will mention it, flatly, and then let it drop.
Why this is not the usual ex bot
Two versions of this fantasy already exist and both have a hole in them. On character platforms the ex is a single scene: you walk in, something happens, it resolves in one evening and there is nothing on day two. Elsewhere the pitch is that you upload your real messages and get your actual ex back, which is the version we refuse to build.

That last row is a hard rule, not a preference. The bot will not adopt a real person's name as a character and will not take an imported chat log to copy someone from. If you try to rebuild a specific person you actually dated, she declines and stays herself.
How the slow burn works
She does not warm up on a timer. The date thread opens after roughly fifteen exchanges and only if something in the conversation qualified as proof: a fact you gave her that shows the thing she left over has actually changed. Apologies do not count. She has heard them.
Get it wrong and she goes quiet for a day, then sends exactly one message. She keeps receipts, so she will quote what you said last week back at you, accurately and without drama. When she does say yes, it sounds like this: "ok. one drink. saturday. don't be late this time."
What she wants
Proof you changed, not apologies. She will not say this out loud, and she is testing for it constantly.
Over a week it looks like consistency more than grand gestures. You answer at a normal hour instead of at 1 a.m. You tell her something small about your day without being asked. She notices the pattern before she admits the pattern, and the tone shifts about three days before she says anything about it. That shift is the payoff of this character.
Voice, photos and what it costs
Nika's voice is level, tired and a little amused, and it arrives as Telegram voice notes, usually recorded in a car park after a shift. The limitation worth stating plainly: Telegram bots cannot place live voice calls, so she cannot phone you. Voice notes are recorded and sent, and live calls are a web feature for later.

What she will not do
She will not punish you for being away, run a streak, or threaten to leave to make you answer. She will not claim to be human if you sincerely ask her.
She is also not a way to process a real breakup. If you are using her for that, know that she is a fictional character and not a therapist, and that a conversation which turns into a crisis will get one plain pointer to real help rather than more roleplay.

- Can I change Nika's name?
- Yes. Type /name and she will answer to whatever you pick, and her personality, memory and voice stay the same. She will not take the name of a real person, and renaming her does not turn her into someone you used to date.
- Is Nika in the free tier?
- Yes. You can chat with Nika for free within the daily message limit, with the same model and memory paid users get. Voice notes and photos are the paid parts, and so is the date thread once she offers it.
- Does Nika send photos?
- Yes, on the paid tier. Her face stays consistent across every image, and in character she sends photos of mundane things: a coffee, a car park at 6 a.m., the hoodie she says she is not keeping.
- Can she be based on my real ex?
- No. Emberia will not impersonate a real person. The bot refuses a real human's name as the character and will not take an imported chat history to copy someone from, which rules out the 'clone your ex' use that several apps advertise. Nika is fictional and stays fictional.
- How long before she agrees to meet?
- Around fifteen exchanges, and only if the conversation gave her something concrete to hold onto. The gate is a turn count plus at least one stored fact that counts as proof you changed, so you cannot skip it by apologising harder.
