Why people look for a Nomi alternative

Three reasons show up again and again, and only one of them is about Nomi specifically.

The first is the pattern across the whole category in 2025 and 2026: multi-character chat became the paywall feature. Free tiers give you one companion, or two with caps. Three to ten characters, a turn scheduler and persistent group memory sit on the paid side, at Nomi and at Kindroid and at most of the rest. So "free Nomi alternative" is usually shorthand for "group scenes I do not have to subscribe to".

The second is the store build. Nomi's app carries a 12+ rating, and the fuller experience lives on the web, which is the same split Kindroid runs. What you get depends on where you opened it, and nobody announces that on the pricing page.

Third, there is no Telegram bot. Nomi publishes a web app and mobile apps and nothing else. If you want the conversation to sit in the same place as your normal chats, that ends the comparison before price enters it.

Where Nomi is better

Group chat, and it is not close. Nomi gives a group its own backstory and its own Mind Map, kept separate from each companion's private one-to-one memory, so what a Nomi knows in the group is not automatically what it knows alone with you. Auto-play decides who speaks next when you do not want to pick. Emberia's duo scenes are two characters in one thread, not ten.

Documentation. Nomi maintains a public wiki explaining how group chats, slots and proactive messaging work. Most of this category explains nothing, and the wiki is the reason the Nomi numbers on this page can be quoted at all.

Proactive control. Per companion, you choose whether she writes every hour, every three hours, daily or every four days. Emberia's proactive message is once a day on the free tier and adjustable on paid, which is less granular.

Companion count. Nomi is built for keeping several, with credits for more slots. Emberia gives you a roster of 19 characters and 6 duo pairs, and you talk to one thread at a time.

Where Emberia is better

Group scenes on the free tier. Almost every companion app that shipped multi-character chat in 2025 and 2026 gated it behind a paid tier, Nomi and Kindroid included. Emberia gives you 1 duo scene a day for nothing, and an extra thread on the same day is 99 Stars (about $1.60).

No subscription. A two-day pass is 149 Stars (about $2.40), three months 999 Stars (about $15.90), a year 2499 Stars (about $39.90). Nothing renews on its own, because Telegram Stars are spent rather than billed.

No account. The bot never asks for an email, a phone number or a password. It sees your Telegram user ID and what you send it.

18+ as an explicit setting. Nomi's app carries a 12+ store rating and its adult positioning is left to testimonials to imply. Emberia states it plainly: 18+ is a toggle in your private chat, switched on after you confirm your age once, and the bot refuses anything involving minors, real identifiable people or non-consent in either mode.

Getting out. /export gives you everything we hold in one file and /delete confirm erases it within 24 hours.

Prices in Stars are fixed by us and charged by Telegram. The dollar figures are indicative, and Stars bought inside the iOS app cost more than Stars bought on desktop, because of Apple's cut.

Verdict

Nomi is the better product if you want a room full of companions who know each other. Nothing on Telegram matches the group machinery, and paying about $15.99 a month for it is a reasonable trade.

Emberia is the better first step if you are not sure yet. You can be talking to a character in under a minute, with memory, without handing over an email, and you can run a duo scene every day without paying anything. If you outgrow two characters in a thread, Nomi is where you go next, and we would rather say that than pretend otherwise.

One limit on our side, stated plainly. Telegram bots cannot place live voice calls, so Emberia sends voice notes and never rings you. If a live call is the feature you are shopping for, Emberia is not the product to buy.
